Lee was a true American hero and the consumate Gentleman's Gentleman. I enjoyed the numerous conversations we had over the years, especially about his illustrious military service. I will forever treasure these moments we had. Finally, Lee was completely blessed with his wonderful wife Barbara, a true angel! God bless you Col Walter's, one day soon we'll swap stories again...until then, you will be missed!

My name is Jairus Powers and I got to know Lee at the Academy Gym. It happened like this. One day I was in the gym and someone ask if I was related to Francis Gary Powers and I replied yes. After some conversation someone tapped me on the shoulder and introduced himself as Lee Walters and said you will not believe this but me and your cousin went to pilot training together in 1953 at Williams AFB, AZ. After some small talk, Lee and I became fast friends. He was a great patriot and I will miss him. RIP Lee

Here´s a couple of pictures of Lee enjoying several of our USAFA "gym rats" luncheons. Lee was the impetus and inaugural member of our retired military "gym rats"group. We could always count upon Lee to regale us with some fantastic stories of his Air Force piloting days.
