Mary Alyce Brooks, 90, peacefully went to be with her Heavenly Father on February 14, 2025. Mary was born on September 30, 1934, in Maywood, Illinois, she was the daughter of Ruben R. and Bessie May (Amundson) Kuster. Mary graduated from Proviso High School in 1952.

She went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree from Grinnell College in 1956, where she met the love of her life, Donald Brooks. The couple was married in 1957 at Trinity Methodist Church in Pueblo, Colorado. Their life together was marked by many moves due to Don's career in the U.S. Air Force. In 1971, they settle in Colorado Springs.

Always a lifelong learner, Mary continued to educate herself on a variety of topics, demonstrating her passion for personal growth and helping others. She was deeply involved in her church, PEO Chapter GI, and other philanthropic organizations. Mary had a special gift for supporting others and was dedicated to helping people achieve their dreams.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Ruben and Bessie Kuster. She is survived by her beloved husband, Don Brooks; her children, Tom Brooks (Deborah) and Susan Evans (Todd); four grandsons, their families, and six great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held at First United Methodist Church (downtown), 1:00 PM, March 14, 2025. In lieu of flowers, Mary requested that donations be made to Pikes Peak Hospice.

So Sorry to lose such a special person. She had a great sense of humor and was a dear friend to all who knew her - she never met a stranger. God will surely care for her.
