Mary Curry Obituary

Mary L. Stevens Curry, 80, passed away at Madrone Hospice House, Yreka, California on Thursday Nov. 6th, 2014 with family at her side.

Mary was born June 3,1934 in Billings, Montana to John and Madge ( Mason) Stevens. She was raised on the family NI Ranch in Lodge Grass, Montana along with her brothers, Mick and Jack Stevens.

During her freshman year of high school she caught the eye of her brother's best friend, Dale Curry. Mary graduated from Lodge Grass High School in 1952 and attended Colorado Women's College in Denver, Colorado. She and Dale continued dating and were married on November 6th, 1954 in Lodge Grass, Montana.

Shortly after their marriage, Dale and Mary moved to Rapid City, S.D. Two of their children, Terry and Barry were born there. In 1959 they moved to Grants, NM, where their third son, Rob, was born. In 1964 Dale and Mary moved to their new home in Colorado Springs where they raised their family and continued to live for the next 50 years. Mary found much enjoyment being a homemaker and raising her sons.

She enjoyed reading, gambling, and traveling. Most of all she liked traveling to spend time with her family in Montana, Virginia, California and the Southern Oregon coast.

Mary leaves her three sons and their wives, Terry and Linda of Yreka, CA; Barry and Tokuko of Northglenn, CO; and Rob and Lori of Winchester, VA; Eight grandchildren, Patrick, Melanie, Jonathan, Isaiah, Steven, Mark, Natalie and Timothy: five great-grandchildren: Ethan, Taylor, Gavin, Jaden, and Kyrie. Also a very special sister-in-law Janet Stevens and many cousins, nephews and neices, along with many many friends.

Mary was predeceased by her beloved husband, Dale, her parents John and Madge Stevens, two brothers, Mick and Jack Stevens and an infant son, Dean Roy Curry.

At her request there will be no services at this time. Mary's wish was to have her cremains, along with her husband Dales, returned to her family ranch in Lodge Grass, Montana. That will take place in either the spring or summer of next year.

Donations can be made to: Madrone Hospice House, 255 Collier Circle, Yreka, CA 96097 or to: Big Horn County Historical Society, Route 1 Box 1206A, Hardin, Mt. 59034.
