Mary Dussex Obituary

Mary Dussex was born on September 4, 1919 to Daniel and Mary (Mayor) Moix in Conway, Arkansas, the seventh of nine children. She married the man of her dreams, Louis C. Dussex, on July 14, 1936. They had three children. Their life was shattered when Louis was diagnosed with Tuberculosis. With his recovery eight years later they were able to begin again as a family. Mary did not finish high school but was able to progress in a career, which included the old dime store where she was personnel manager, catalog office and finally retiring as an assistant manager of a finance company. (Women could not be managers at that time.) She and Louis had 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren and one great great grandson, all of whom delighted her. Mary also enjoyed gardening, needlework, crossword puzzles, reading and the Broncos. She was a devout Catholic and a founding member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church. She spent her last years at Sunrise Assisted Living where she was given great care and took up watercolor painting and enjoyed many outings and activities. She left us on May 31, 2006 at the age of 86 to live eternally in her heavenly home with her God, Louis and other loved ones who have gone before. Mary is survived by daughters: Julia Pittenger (Don) and Mary Kerby (Bob); grandchildren: Mary Hylton (Monroe), Ted Travis (Michiko), Debra Coupens (Clark), Louis Dussex, Carol Henry, Cheryl Kerby, Jacque Dussex, Brian Travis, Andrew Travis, Todd Dussex (Maggie) and Jill Travis; great-grandchildren: Alicia Phillips (Anthony), Taylor Travis, Memory Travis, Ryan Dussex, Jessica Dussex, Lena Hylton, Callie Coupens, Travis Henry and Dustin Dussex; great-great-grandson, TJ Phillips; sister, Antoinette Korphage and sister-in-law, Mary Mattas. She was preceded in death by her husband Louis; her son, Louis; grandson, Infant Kerby, brothers: Joe Moix, Eugene Moix, Candide Moix and Tony Moix; and sisters: Catherine Tyler, Sister Cecilia Ann Moix and Agnes Freyburger. Viewing will be at Memorial Gardens Chapel Sunday June 4 from 1:00-3:00 p.m. with rosary at 3:00 p.m. Funeral mass will be Monday, June 5 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with burial immediately following at Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Holy Trinity Catholic Church or The Alzheimer's Association.

We will always remember what a sweet woman Aunt Mary was. She was always so happy and loving. Will never forget how she saved a toy that our son left at her house so she could give it back to him nearly 10 years later when we visited again! She was very kind and will be missed.
