Mary-Elisabeth Cahill Obituary

Mary-Elisabeth (Mary-Beth) Cahill of Colorado Springs passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on April 7, 2009. Born on December 6, 1913 to Timothy and Cecelia (Flanigan) O’Connor in Washington, DC, where she grew up, graduated from Georgetown Visitation High School and Junior College. During WWII she worked for the War Department at the Pentagon. On Jan. 15, 1943 she married the love of her life, Harry P. Cahill, in Oklahoma City, OK. After living in Riverside, CA and Rapid City, SD she settled in Colorado Springs in 1964 where she worked for The Colorado College as an Administrative Assistant for the Humanities Department. Survived by her children, Lisette (Jerry) Hug of CA, Michael Cahill and Maggy (George) Adkins of Colorado Springs, nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved Harry equally loved son, Paul Cahill, of Maryland and sister, Kathleen Cannon. She was devoted to her family and enjoyed volunteering with the Girl Scouts, Meals on Wheels, and her church. Her special interest and work was with the Native Americans in South Dakota. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Red Cloud Indian School, 100 Mission Drive, Pine Ridge, SD 57770-2100. She will be greatly missed and deeply loved and remembered by all those who knew her. Visitation will be Monday, April 13, 5-7PM at The Springs Funeral Services, 3115 E. Platte Avenue. Mass of Christian Burial, Tuesday, April 14, 11AM at Divine Redeemer Catholic Church, 927 N. Logan Avenue. Graveside Service, Wednesday, April 15, 1:15PM at Ft. Logan National Cemetery, Denver, Colorado.
