Mary Findlay Obituary

Findlay
Mary "Jody" Joyce Findlay
1921 - 2018
Mary Joyce (Jody) Findlay was a lovely, creative woman who passed away surrounded by the love and care of her family on March 3, 2018. She was a wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and a fun friend. Her creativity and skills were evident in the pieces she painted, sewed, knitted, and in how she so fashionably dressed. She was happiest when she was dancing, riding trains, golfing (four holes in one), playing bridge, and driving her convertible. She had a delightful sense of humor and loved to laugh. She will be missed every day.
Joyce, as her parents called her, was born in Daytona, FL on December 1, 1921. She grew up in Jacksonville and attended Florida State University in Tallahassee before meeting the love of her life, Clayton George Findlay, at a Naval Officer's Club dance in 1946. They were married in July, just six months after dancing the night away, and were inseparable for the next 55 years.
Jody is survived by her two daughters, Carole Jeanne Phipps of Los Gatos, CA, and Rebecca Joyce Farley of Colorado Springs, CO; her son-in-law, John R. Farley; grandsons Adam J. Farley and Kevin J. Farley; Kevin's wife Dorota Pardela Farley, and their two children, Patryk and Klara.
She is preceded in death by her infant daughter Nancy Sue Findlay, her parents James Elmore and Veda Viner Hooker, her husband Clayton, her sister Jean Minge, and her second husband Albert E. Stock.
Jody loved animals - all animals. In lieu of flowers, please consider contributing to The Humane Society or National Mill Dog Rescue.
