Mary Marcella Greer "Sally" age 96, of Colorado Springs, CO, passed away on July 5, 2024. Sally was born in Solomon, Kansas on September 2, 1927, the youngest of five children.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, James Jackson Greer, in 2013.
Sally is survived by her six children; Sharon McClellan of Bristol, CT, Michael Greer of Evergreen, CO, Patrick Greer (& Trisha) of Woodland Park, CO, Catherine O'Canna (& Ron) of Colorado Springs, CO, Margaret Greer of Thornton, CO and Theresa Greer of Colorado Springs, CO, 12 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.
Sally will be remembered for the life she lived and the stories she shared from the Great Depression, World War II, her time as a telephone operator in Southern California during the War and fabulous stories of Hollywood in the 1940's; always with a cat on her lap. Her grandchildren will always have the fond memories of sleepovers and playing board and card games with Grandma.
When asked what Sally's wish was near the end of her life, she stated that she wished for everyone to have the life she had, as it was a great one.
A very special thank you and gratitude to the personnel at Pikes Peak Post Acute and Gentiva Hospice for the care, kindness and love they showed Sally. She knew she was safe and loved. The family could not have asked for more.
Funeral Service, Wednesday, July 31, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 3825 Airport Rd, Colorado Springs, CO 80910.
Mary will be laid to rest in Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 3825 Airport Rd, Colorado Springs, CO 80910.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Gentiva Hospice in Marys name.
