Mary Mummery Imhof

Mary Imhof Obituary

Mary Anna Mummery Imhof, 74, died Monday August 7, 2017. Mary was born on November 30, 1942 in Florida to Sam and HelenJane (Miller) Mummery. During WWII, while Sam was in the Air Force, the family moved frequently; after the war, the family settled in Colorado Springs based on the recommendation of friends Skip and Jean Mench.

After graduating from Wasson High School in 1961, Mary attended the University of Colorado, graduating with a Bachelor's, then a Master's degree in Nursing. Mary worked as a Nurse Practitioner in many fields (Family Care, Newborn, Home Health, etc…) and loved providing care to others. She attended the 50th reunion of her Nursing School class in 2015.

Mary is survived by her three children, Elizabeth Coleman, Sam Imhof, and William Imhof, son-in-law Sean Coleman, and four grandchildren, Holly Coleman, Lilly Imhof, Brett Coleman, and Max Imhof. She is also survived by her brother Bill (Lisa) Mummery, nephew Shane (Gabriela) Mummery and niece Millie Mummery. She was preceded in death by her father (1999) and mother (2014).

Mary loved to read, learn new things, and discuss current events. She was extremely smart and she enjoyed celebrating all holidays and telling jokes. Mary dearly loved her kids, but her grandkids were the light of her life. She loved a trip to the zoo or the movies with her grandkids; she also enjoyed a nap with her dog or grand-dog. She was happiest when she was in Colorado Springs, surrounded by family, friends, and the mountains.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm Friday, August 18th, 2017, in the chapel of the First United Method Church. A reception at the church will follow.

In lieu of flowers, please consider contributing to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo (4250 Cheyenne Mountain Zoo Road, Colorado Springs, CO 80906).

Mary and I began our friendship when she joined ,and eventually became the chair of, Dakota UU Church in Minnesota. She was a very Wise Woman and I loved her wit and sense of humor! I will always remember her gentle voice and her kindness and compassion. My sympathy to her family. ❤

Prayers and sympathy to all of Mary's family. She was a dear cousin who we thoroughly enjoyed with her charm and quick wit. When I was growing up, my family always enjoyed our visits with her family in Colorado Springs. I'm happy I have those great memories of the Moody and Mummery family visits.

Mary was always a very special friend no matter where we lived. I was fortunate to be nearby this last year so I could see her often. I was frequently overcome with sadness as her life slipped away but she never lost her sense of humor and wit. I will miss her so much but have wonderful memories of some of the crazy things we did together. My heart goes out to Beth. Sam, and Bill and grandchildren.
