Mary Koiter Obituary

Mary Louise Koiter, 78, passed away October 20, 2010 in Sandpoint, ID. She was born on April 22, 1932 in Kimball, NE to Fredrick and Nina Marie (Challburg) Baker. She grew up in Scottsbluff and raised her family in Grand Junction, CO. She earned a full scholarship at Denver University and later earned her RN degree at Mesa College and went on to become a psychiatric nurse, working in the fields of geriatrics and substance abuse recovery until her retirement in 1998. She lived in Colorado Springs from 1999 til 2010. She was an avid classic movie aficionado, and bridge and scrabble expert with a sharp mind for strategy and language. Mary is survived by her sister, Irene; by her children: John Koiter III, Judy (Koiter) Winkler, Jeffrey Koiter and his wife Valerie Bernhardt, and Joel Koiter; by her grandchildren: Jennifer Sarah Koiter and Jason Allen Koiter and his wife Amanda; and by her great-grandchild Miles Alexander Koiter. A memorial service will be held in Colorado Springs on October 31, 2010 - call (719) 594-6745 for more information.
