Mary O'Neill Obituary

May 31, 1918 - November 6, 2008
MARY PATRICIA O'NEILL (nee O'Neill) born on May 31, 1918 in Little Falls, New Jersey passed away on November 6, 2008 in Colorado Springs Hospice Facility, Colorado Springs, Colorado. Pattie, as she was affectionately known to family and friends, was the second child of Philip A O'Neill and Ellin L. O'Neill. After attending Benedictine Academy and Holy Name Academy, she graduated from Summit High School, Summit, New Jersey, and Edgewood Park Junior College in Briarcliff Manor, New York. She married Peter Eugene O'Neill of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on March 28, 1944 in Christian County, Kentucky. Two days later, Peter, left for two years to fight in WW11 in the European Theater as a Captain and decorated member of Patton's Third Army. Peter returned from WW11, and after living in summit and Scotch Plains, he and Pattie moved to Mountain Lakes, New Jersey in December 1953 where they spent 16 wonderful years raising their children Peter and Tina. The family later moved to Boonton Twp. In 1969 where Pattie resided for 21 years before moving to Colorado Springs, Colorado in May 2000 to be closer to her daughter, Tina. Pattie was a volunteer at Riverside Hospital spending many years developing and organizing Twig 24 and Twig 21. She and her late husband, Peter, chaired many FanFare committees over the years. Pattie was also active in the Barn Theatre, serving on the Board and winning many awards as an actress. Pattie leaves two children, Peter M. O'Neill of Princeton, New Jersey and Christina C. O'Neill Finn of Colorado Springs, Colorado, four grandchildren, Kathleen O'Neill Burgener, of Boston, Massachusetts, Sarah O'Neill Kreter, of Cranston, Rhode Island, Michael Sean O'Neill, of Hoboken, New Jersey, and Christen Amdahl of Denver Colorado and eight loving and loved nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Peter, in 1980, and four brothers, Philip, Charles, Thomas and Norris O'Neill.
