Mary Ann (Burch) Powell, mother, grandmother, friend and teacher passed away peacefully on June 14, 2024. Mary Ann was born in Port Arthur Texas on January 24, 1930. She was one of a few women to graduate from the University of Texas, Austin with a business degree in 1951. She subsequently worked as an executive assistant at the Humble Oil Company. After meeting her future husband, John C Powell, and marrying him in October 4, 1953, they spent 20 years together in the Air Force. They llived in Japan for a couple of years where Mary Ann learned the art of Japanese flower arranging, IKEBANA. She enjoyed it so much she became a teacher and thrived learning and then teaching others. She could often be found spending long hours in her garden during the warm months and reading during cold weather.
Mary Ann is survived by her three children and her grandchildren, Sydney, Lindon and Austin.
A memorial service and subsequent celebration of life will be held on Friday, July 26, 2024 at 11 AM at St Peter Church in Monument, Colorado.

The Buckley SFB military Retiree Activities Office (RAO) would like to offer our sincere condolences on your loss. We see from the obituary that Mr. Powell retired from the Air Force. If you would like help with any matters related to casualty assistance, Defense Finance & Accounting Service, Survivor Benefit Plan (SBP), Veterans Affairs (VA), etc. you can contact our office on Buckley SFB at 720-847-6693 or [email protected]. The RAO is staffed by volunteers, all military retirees themselves, and our sole purpose is to provide assistance to any military retirees and surviving spouses/family members with anything related to their military service and/or benefits, in particular during difficult times such as this. We are deeply sorry for your loss.
