Hearing of Mrs. Stevens passing was as devastating news as though she were my own family member. Although not blood related, the Stevens family is my family. At one point back in around 1988 I was down on my luck and needed a place to stay. It was without hesitation that I was welcomed in thier home and experienced firsthand the loving nature of Mrs. Mary Stevens. And...how much her Christian spirit of love was impressed upon the entire Stevens family.
I asked Jeff to share with me the top 3 things he learned from his mother throughout thier lifetime. Jeff said, caring, patience and love. What three words could possibly better describe the values any parent would hope to impress upon thier children...her family, or anyone who was ever blessed to have been in her presence.
To the Stevens family, I say God has Mrs. Stevens by his side. And together, they look upon her life's work in good favor.
To Mrs. Stevens, your life and that of your husband have allowed me to be blessed with friendships of your children that for more than 20 years are greatly cherished. Thank you for the example you set through te life you lived. You should feel proud that your spirit continues to live through so many.
