Mary Ann Thompson, 85, went to be with the Lord on March 4th, 2021 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Mary was born in Columbus, OH, on March 6, 1935 to the late Nicholas D. and Lucille M. (Rike) Gallagher.
She attended Ohio State University where she nurtured her love of music, playing the piano and enjoyed the performing arts. She then met the love of her life, Richard (Dick) Thompson and they married on October 8, 1955. Throughout their 65 years of marriage and raising their children, they enjoyed traveling to different parts of the country, camping, and her weekend getaways to Cripple Creek.
Mary had a career at American Numismatic Association then later retired from Deluxe Checks in Colorado Springs. She volunteered her time and was a founding member of the Hammin Sam's camping club in Colorado Springs. For many years, she authored the Holiday Village Retirement Community newsletter. She had a genuine love of serving others, whether it be caring for her children, grandchildren, husband, or just passing a dollar to a person in need. She was an avid Bronco fan and could be found watching the game on a Sunday afternoon.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard (Dick) Thompson, her brothers, Nicholas Jr, Charles, and Thomas, and sister Dorothy Murphy.
She is deeply missed and survived by her children, Daniel, and wife Mary, of Ridgecrest, CA, Phillip of Denver, CO, John and wife Connie and Richelle Britigan of Colorado Springs, CO, her 8 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Services for both Richard and Mary are scheduled for Friday, May 14, 2021 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1830 S. Corona Ave, Colorado Springs, CO 80905, beginning at 10:30 am. Funeral procession and reception to follow the service, information to come.
