Mary Wiesbrook Obituary

Wiesbrook
MARY FABIOLA WIESBROOK
September 14, 2022
Mary Fabiola Wiesbrook passed away on September 14, 2022, at Ascension St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet, Illinois. She walked this earth for 85 years, firmly grounded in her Catholic faith, her love of Jesus Christ, and with devotion to His Blessed Mother and St. Joseph.
She was born in Aurora, Illinois, the devoted daughter and eighth child of Harry and Fabiola Riedy Wiesbrook. Mary graduated from SS. Peter and Paul grade school in Naperville and Sacred Heart Academy in Lisle. For 30 years she was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Lisle and worked in retail at Riedy Hardware, founded by her grandfather, Albert Riedy. Mary loved helping customers and meeting new people.
She was a sensitive soul who enjoyed reading, classical music, art, and travels that took her to Europe, Hawaii, and Alaska. She took great delight in the activities of her large extended family and was the family historian who remembered names, birth dates, and anniversaries of siblings and her forty-three nieces and nephews and over ninety great nieces and nephews! Her encyclopedic memory of sports kept us all amazed and entertained. She was a loyal fan of the New York Yankees and the Chicago Cubs.
In 1998 she retired to Woodland Park, Colorado, living near her nephews, Mike and Chuck Wiesbrook. The peace and beauty of Colorado fed her soul and mirrored it as well. She felt at home at Our Lady of the Woods Catholic Church and volunteered for fifteen years at the Community Cupboard Food Pantry in Woodland Park. She was a friend of many.
In 2021, she moved to Willow Falls Senior Living in Crest Hill, Illinois, where she was treated with kindness, care, and love by a very compassionate staff. More recently, Mary was treated at Ascension St. Joseph Medical Center, where the care was likewise outstanding.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Fabiola, her infant brother, Harry Jr., brothers Thomas (Barbara Baumann), Donald, David, Philip, James, and Arthur as well as her sister, Lucy Heitkotter, and brothers-in-law Jerome Heitkotter and Douglas Spesia, and nephews Gregory, Kevin, and Andrew Wiesbrook, Mark, and Martin Heitkotter.
Mary is survived by her devoted sisters, Loretta Spesia and Helene Smiar (Nick), and sisters-in-law Rita, Florence "Sis," Mary, and Georgene Wiesbrook, her nieces and nephews, and cousins whom she loved.
In memory of Mary, strive to be remarkable - love your family, say a prayer, spread joy and practice simple acts of kindness!
