Maxine Evans Obituary

Maxine Evans, 90, of Lincoln, IL, formerly of Ashland, IL and Colorado Springs, CO, died Saturday, July 9, 2016, at her home.

She was born March 20, 1926, near Philadelphia, IL, the daughter of John W. and Daisy Ruth Newton Bryant. She married Harold Evans on March 13, 1945, in Ashland, and he preceded her in death on Jan. 22, 2014.

She is survived by one brother, Robert (Joyce) Bryant of Bloomington; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and four brothers and sisters, Mildred Weakley, Ralph Bryant, Russell Bryant and Betty Jane Brown.

Mrs. Evans was a 1944 graduate of Ashland High School. Early in life, she had worked for Willard Evans General Trucking and Uhlemann Optical Company in Springfield. In 1951, she and Harold moved to Colorado Springs, where she retired from Colorado Interstate Gas Company after 37 years. She was a member of Pike's Peak Church of Christ in Colorado Springs. Maxine loved to travel and camp with her husband. She enjoyed music and entertaining, and always had visitors.

A funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 12, 2016, at Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Ashland, with burial at Ashland City Cemetery.
