May Perry Obituary

May Perry Passed away 30th January 2007. I woke this morning and remembered that when I was four years old I lost hold of your hand in a crowded store. I thought you were gone and my world shuddered. When you found me, mere moments later, I clung to you for days and was inconsolable. I'd had a fleeting glimpse of life without you and for a moment my heart had turned cold and the world had become a dark place. Now, almost a half a century later, during our final time together I held your hand through the entire night, and only when I left your side for a brief moment, did you slip away. Now I understand: You had remembered my distress and could never allow me to lose you again while I was holding your hand. A spirit so strong. So much love. So much consideration for others until the very end. I'm inconsolable again, but your love fills my heart. And when my time comes to leave behind our loved ones in this world, I know you'll be waiting on the other side and you r hand will be the first that reaches for mine. Just to know you is my privilege. You teach love effortlessly. Mother, you are my Badge of Honor and my chest swells with pride. To Doctor John Burke - an extraordinarily courageous man with the toughest job imaginable, his team at Rocky Mountain Cancer Center, and all the caring staff at Penrose Main, Select Care and Pikes Peak Hospice, our gratitude for you bravery, commitment and kindness is eternal David, Nicola, and Jamie.
