Melissa McCafferty passed away in Colorado Springs on 22 January 2026. Melissa was born in Littleton, CO. She graduated from University of New Mexico, Albuquerque with a degree in Business Administration. She moved to Colorado Springs and completed her MBA at UCCS.
Melissa met her husband, Mark, in Colorado Springs and married in 2000.
Melissa and Mark ran a successful home inspection and engineering company, Criterium McCafferty Engineers. They resided in the Crystal Park Community adjacent to Manitou Springs, CO to be close to areas where they could enjoy their outdoor activities. Melissa was very active within the Crystal Park community boards and in planning projects for the community.
Melissa was an avid cyclist and enjoyed hiking, skiing and actively involved with local and national cycling events and clubs. Her cycling accomplishments include medals at Masters Track and Road Nationals Championships. In recent years, Melissa was also an avid mountain biker and a regular at the West Side Trails End weekly mountain bike ride.
Melissa was known to her friends as a free spirit who enjoyed yoga, playing poker, going out to dinner, hiking up the incline, and cycling rides. She travelled regionally with her husband Mark, where they visited areas such as Moab, Durango, and the Western Slope of Colorado for cycling events and
recreation.
She is preceded in death by her Father James Moore and her brother Doug Moore. She is survived by her husband of 25 years, Mark, and her mother, Darlene Moore.
Please remember Melissa as a great friend and caring person. We will miss her dearly. The world has lost a fun-loving soul.
