Melva Jean Hadlock Obituary

Melva Hadlock, 79, entered into eternal peace on Tuesday, December 3, 2013, at Sunny Vista Living Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado after a long battle with cancer.

Melva was born on December 23, 1933 in the small Minnesota farming town of Shelby. She is a daughter of the late Leonard and Julia Huffman 1977.

Melva lived a long and fruitful life. She attended the International Typographical Union in Colorado Springs in the late 1960s where she learned to be a keypunch operator and worked for Farmers Insurance Group until the mid 1970s. She later worked as a computer operator for Colorado Interstate Gas Company where she retired from in 1991. After retirement, she and her husband, Douglas Hadlock loved to travel the country in their RV. Melva was also an animal lover. She cherished all animals and dreamed of one day opening a dog rescue center.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Douglas Hadlock 1998; older sister, Arlene Huffman 1942, older brother Wayne Huffman 1945, older brother Orlo Huffman 1954, younger Sister, Viola Matthes 1996, and younger Brother, Dale Huffman 2013.

She leaves her loving memories to be cherished by her; sister, Marcella Betz, of Virginia, son Steven Holland and daughter-in-law Carolyn Holland of Ogden Utah, daughter Michell Holland and son Michael Sorenson of Colorado Springs, Colorado and grandsons Travis Holland and Jason Holland (wife Therese) of Utah and Great Grandsons Traysen and Nash.

The family has chosen to have private services.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Dream Power Animal Rescue Foundation or The American Cancer Society.
