Melvin Bauer Obituary

Melvin Eugene Bauer, 79 , Retired Senior Technician for Colorado Interstate Gas Co. Died Feb. 24, 2009 at home. Mel was preceded in death by his wife Loretta Bauer, his parents, two sisters, and two brothers. Mel was born on April 4th, 1929 in Comanche County near Protection, Kansas to Harley O. Bauer Sr. and Martha (Smith) Bauer Maris. He married February 19th, 1960 to Loretta A. (Herzberg) Glancy. Mel served with the 82nd Airborne and worked 41 ½ years for Colorado Interstate Gas Co. before retiring May 1st, 1991. Mel lived in Garden City, Kansas 25 years before moving to Colorado Springs, Co. in 1972. He was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church. Mel was a member of the Wagon Wheelers, Mountain Swingers, and Roundalaires Dance Clubs. Mel is survived by three daughters: Esta Kay Isaacs (Harvey) of Dalhart, Tx. Cormin Harrell (David), of Albuquerque, NM. and Lory Herndon (John) of Norwood, Co. Three sons: Richard Bauer (Ida) and Jim Bauer (Gina) both of Colorado Springs, Co. and Rudy Bauer (Dena) of Chipita Park, Co. 17 Grandchildren, 14 Great Grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 10am on March 2nd at Holy Cross Lutheran Church with Pastor Doug Brauner presiding. A small reception will follow. Burial Services will be at 2pm at Memorial Gardens Cemetery & Funeral Home, 3825 Airport Road, Colorado Springs, Co.
