For those of us who knew Frank, we will miss his offbeat humor the most. He brought smiles to all who attended the 101st get-togethers. Whether you saw him at the banquets, picnics and parades, when you went home you usually had a memento of him in the form of funny money or a joke.
God bless Frank Lett

Kind Heavenly Father, our Great God who invites --- "Follows Me" May we with Stalwart hearts declare Thee Lord of all. We ask Thy Holy blessing to rest upon all paratroopers who are on the path to secure and sustain peace.

May we be ready at all times to boldly stand up for thy truth and ways and be steadfastly hooked up to Thy Law and Gospel.

May a primary part of our equipment be a confident faith in Thee as we stand in the door of all missions in life. May the canopy of Thy love shield and keep us now and forever.

We go in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

I met Frank through the Rocky Mountain Eagles. What a great person to know. He always had a new joke to tell and passed out his famous humorous print outs. I will never forget his reason for not drinking water. I always looked forward to seeing him at our little get togethers with the Rocky Mountain Eagles. I will miss him very much.

I've taken care of Frank’s house, yard and cars for many years...I have had the distinct pleasure of knowing Frank during his last decade, and despite the culmination of that decade these last few months I believe Frank would say, "It was a good decade." I have learned about many of his other "decades" the last few months from my new close friends Klara, Juergen and a few other people who have known Frank for decades, and Frank and I talked about his other decades a lot these last few months (the humorous, the reflective, retrospective and some profoundly grave discussions) in the hospital and rehab facilities. Franks quick wit, pleasant demeanor, effervescent optimism and fervent patriotism have always been a trademark in our friendship, but this year I learned so much more. Frank was no saint by self proclamation, but who of us are? I learned about Frank’s consistency of active loyalty he believed in until the end of his life that no one could surpass. Frank delivered newspapers to the singles club, gave money, clothes, food and any help he could to Ronald McDonald House, The VA home, FV Senior Center and many other organizations for decades, consistently, weekly or monthly! He also gave to people who he believed needed it more than he did and he believed many people did. Frank was in many ways a man of few words, but his actions spoke loudly. He always had a humor card, joke printout, funny money for anyone he encountered, one more way he reached out to people. Earlier this year, Frank was already fighting serious illness and he lost his last "best" old buddy Gene. Frank constantly referred to me as his old buddy for years, but that day Frank made a request of me. He asked if I'd be his "best" old buddy now, I eagerly said Sure! Then Frank soberly asked me, "Best buddies to the end?" With a crackling voice, and tears in my eyes standing at his front door that evening I looked back at Frank and said, "Yep, to the end Frank..." Just a couple weeks later Frank, Juergen, Klara and I started on a positive quest to heal Frank. He gave that quest the same thoughtful, loyal, steadfast, consistent effort he did anything he believed in during his life, but this time, his body just didn't cooperate. I'm sad because of the loss I feel, not because of death, you lived 89 years and you did it independently until the last few months, that is quite an accomplishment. Frank told a close friend of mine many times "That Roger can do anything!" I never knew of Frank to say something he didn't believe, and if I could do anything, I would've carried you though this and all the medical intervention we took would have been successful...as I'm typing this with tears rolling down my face once again, oh how I wish I really could do what you believed I could do. But the realities of our mortal limitations just seem to prevail don't they? Frank, I can't count the times you said to me "Thanks for all you've done for me." I guess one more of a few everlasting hopes I have in my life is that you believe I kept my word and was your "Best old buddy to the end."
Rest peacefully Frank, you earned it. Thanks for everything you did for me, for what you were and still are to me. I love you, my best old buddy.

I first met Frank in 1989. I seriously doubt he had a enemy in this entire world. Always had a joke for everyone and was famous for the literature he handed out to his friends. Frank served honorably with the 101st Airborne in World War II -they don't make 'em like this anymore! We'll miss you Frank, but we'll toast you often because that's the way you'd want it!

We have known Frank as a neighbor for 5 years, and he always had a wave and a smile for all of us. He was a wonderful person and our family will deeply miss him. Frank was a true American. He always drove in his red, white and blue car. He always had the American colors flying. He displayed his patriotism on the outside. But we do know that he also had a deep love for this country on the inside as well. Colorado Springs is missing one of its great citizens and he will be greatly missed.

Mr Lett was such a nice and entertaining person. I grew up next door to him and Mrs Lett.
I have many great memories of him. One is when he gave me a sip of beer and I went home and told my mom. She gave Mr Lett holy heck! The next time I saw him he said I'm not your friend anymore because I "squealed" on him. Of course, he was a friend and a life long inspiration.
It's only once in a life time you will meet a great person and patriot like Mr Lett!
Thank you Mr Lett for the great memories you have instilled in my life. God bless you Rick...
