MELVIN EDWARD MEYER
July 8, 1926 - August 2, 2018
Melvin Edward Meyer was born July 8, 1926, on a farm near Wayne, NE to Edward and Clara Meyer. He attended Immanuel Lutheran Church Country School rural Wakefield and graduated from Wayne High School. He served in the United States Army Infantry from 1945-1946 and was a proud member of the Army Band. Mel married Dorothy Ahlvers April 14, 1946, in Wayne. The couple farmed north of Wakefield, NE for several years until moving to Colorado Springs, CO in 1958. While in Colorado, Mel worked in construction. In 1995, Mel and Dorothy moved back to the family farm north of Wayne, where he continued to live until his death. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. Mel is survived by his daughters and sons-in-laws, Connie and Fred Fletemeyer, Carol and Jerry Doan, Karen and Bob Eaks and son Fred Meyer, eight grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and special friend Lucille Williams of Laurel, NE.
Mel was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Clara Meyer, wife Dorothy, one grandson Nicholas Meyer, and sister Elna Splittgerber.
