Melvin Reppert Obituary
Melvin D. Reppert, 84, passed away peacefully Wednesday. Melvin was predeceased by parents David F.A. and Tekla (Brown) Reppert; adopted parents Frank and Jennie Kardos; brothers Elmer, William, and David; sisters Bertha and Helen; daughter Melouise; great granddaughter Nicole. Melvins adopted parents owned and operated Hiawatha Swimming Pool in the 1930s in Hellertown. Melvin Sonny was a lifeguard as a teenager. Melvin was a talented painter and paperhanger by trade who was requested by Max Hess to work on his home often. He also had an eye for antiques and was known for restoring homes in Allentown including the House with the Lions on 8th St. Survivors: Sons, Don, husband of Pam of New Tripoli, Tim, husband of Janine of New Tripoli, Rick, husband of Dianna of Easton, Dave, husband of Amy of Allentown, John, husband of Millie of Northampton; daughter Rachel, wife of Dennis Magargal of Montrose. Melvin is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Services: Memorial service 5:00 PM Tuesday, March 18, 2014, at Superior Restaurant, 102 Main St. Emmaus. To the family of uncle Mel- I'm so sorry to hear of his passing. I have lots of memories of Melvin as I was growing up at Hiawatha Pool. As an adult, I had the pleasure of visiting him at his " house with the lions" in Allentown. It was a fabulous home. He was very creative and had many good qualities. I'm sending you my love and may you find peace and comfort in the many fond memories of Uncle Mel.
