Melvin 'Moose' Ward peacefully passed away on Sunday December 21st 2025. Melvin was born February 15, 1944 in La Veta,CO. The youngest of the family, Melvin enjoyed tagging along with his older brothers on fishing and hunting trips.
In 1962, Melvin was drafted and served for the United States Army where he was stationed as a guard in Germany. His assignment ended in 1964 and upon returning home, he was honorably discharged 13 days early.
On July 25th, 1970, Melvin married Melva Cook. Together, they enjoyed traveling and visiting Cripple Creek.
Melvin was especially proud of his career at Colorado Springs Utilities where he worked for 35 years and retired as a supervisor with the gas department.
Melvin was preceded in death by his wife, Melva as well as all of his siblings. Melvin is survived by his partner, Pam. Close friends and sidekicks, Randy and Louis, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The memorial service for Melvin will be on Thursday February 5th at 10:00am at Evergreen Funeral Home. He will be interred on Friday February 6th at 11:00am at Evergreen Cemetery.
