Merle E. Newton of Peyton, CO passed away unexpectedly at home on May 25, 2023. He was 84 years old.
Merle was born February 6, 1939 in Dakota City, Iowa to Harry and Edna Newton. He and his wife Betty moved to Colorado Springs in 1986.
Merle is survived by his wife, Betty; daughters, Shelly Newton (Vince) of Marshalltown, IA, and Sarah Newton of the United Kingdom; stepchildren, Kevin Julius of Seattle, WA, Jeffery Julius (Carolyn) of Colorado Springs, CO, and Kristen Goure (Joshua) of Woodinville, WA; granddaughter, April Essam (Shane) of Beatrice, NE; step-grandchildren, Jordan and Justin Julius of Colorado Springs, CO; and three great-grandchildren. Merle is also survived by brothers, Steve Newton and Don Newton; and sisters, Evelyn Hill and Lois Desart.
He was preceded in death by first wife, Mary (neé Weiland); and sisters, Janice Burger and Virginia Gilbert.
Private interment will be held in Fort Dodge, IA.

I met merle when we started working together printing checks in Colorado springs for current inc,checks unlimited, deluxe check printers all in the same I was there 20 years merle was there too boy could he tell some dandy stories. Some I could only repeat in the right company enjoyed working with him and eating lunch with him in the lunch room hate to see him go he was a good man from Alan Romero Colorado springs
