Michael C. Vassallo Obituary

Michael C. Vassallo, 42, of Merrimack, NH, and formerly of Worcester and Colorado Springs, CO, died Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.



He was a loving husband to his wife Kathleen (True) Vassallo, and a devoted father to his son Conner M. Vassallo. He also leaves his mother, Dr. Helen (Guillette) Vassallo of Worcester, nine siblings, Dr. Susan Vassallo of Plainville, Patricia Hoversten of Quincy, Charles Vassallo of Brooklyn, NY, Vincent Vassallo of Farmington, CT, Kathleen Mogan of Orlando, FL, Virginia Johnson of Grafton, Elizabeth Caforio of Leicester, Rosemary Nelson of Millbury and Steven Vassallo of Portola Valley, CA, his father-in-law and mother-in-law Edward B. and Ella True of Merrimack, NH, his brother-in-law Edward Q. True and his wife Amy of Manchester, NH, and his many nieces and nephews. His father, Dr. Charles Vassallo, died in 1991.



Michael was born in Worcester. He graduated from St. John's High School in Shrewsbury and The University of Notre Dame in South Bend, IN. He received his law degree from the Vermont Law School.



He was a legal editor for LexisNexis in Colorado Springs. The company provides extensive support and resources to the legal profession across the country.



Michael loved to travel from heli-hunting in New Zealand to heli-hiking the Bugaboo Mountains in Canada. Other adventures included travel to Africa on safari, cruising Alaska waterways, and excursions to Jerusalem and the Egyptian pyramids. He also loved visiting the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo where he fed giraffes with his wife and son.



Michael's family wishes to express their gratitude to the medical and nursing staffs at Massachusetts General Hospital, the UMass-Memorial Medical Center University Campus and the Southern New Hampshire Medical Center for their skilled and compassionate care.



Calling hours are Friday, March 27 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester. The funeral will be held Saturday, March 28, from the funeral home with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, 353 Grove St., Worcester. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Worcester.
