Michael Duncan Obituary

Mike was a great friend. A great lawyer. We worked together closely for years at Fort Carson as military lawyers. I remember meeting him in old colorado city for a while before he passed away on May 30. Ill never forget my last moments with him. He was a wonderful person. I miss him. William Muhr.

My husband and I met Mr.Duncan about 12 years ago. He was a quiet but very nice man. Anytime I called with a question he always made the time to help me. He was a great guy and I feel glad that I got a chance to know him.

We didn't know Mike, but learned about him after finding a balloon that was aparently released at his memorial. It came down four miles north of Yuma, CO. Quite a journey, and it sounds like his was too!

I had the honnor of knowing Michael. He made the world a better place. He will be missed but never forgotten.

I've been a close personal friend of Mike since we met at Fort Carson working as military lawyers. We maintained our close friendship in Colorado Sprgs for 22 years. We talked often. He was wonderful friend, wonderful person. So sad he is gone. He is greatly missed. William Muhr

I met Michael Duncan in the early 1990s while he was working at Trial Defense Services, Fort Carson. Mr. Duncan impressed me by his very aggressive representation of those soldiers needing legal services. More recently, I applied for a job at his law firm. While he did not hire me, he responded to me with a nice email. I know many people who Mr. Duncan represented over the years, and they all have great things to say about this lawyer.

Mike truly cared for people. He showed his love through actions. Still hard to believe he's gone. We miss you Mike.

Michael was a teacher many years ago for a Junior college I attended. I never forgot him and I'm sorry to hear of his passing. My thoughts go out to his friends and family.

As I told him the last time I saw him - "You are the smiliest person I know". You will be missed. My heart goes out to Mike's family.

Mike helped me tremendously,defending me in a grueling court-martial at Ft. Carson in 1990. He worked tirelessly to defend me. I considered him not just my attorney, but a very close dear friend. I am indebted to him and will never forget him.

Michael leaves an incredible legacy of a richer community and a much kinder society that better understands the importance of caring about each other and our environment. Among those many causes about which which Michael cared passionately, the Trails and Open Space Coalition - which he chaired - will be counted among those many groups and causes he touched.

I had the pleasure of working with Mike thru the Independent Newspaper and Safe Place for Pets. Mike was a wonderful man and will be missed. Thoughts and prayers to his family.

I met Michael nearly twenty years ago when he was running for the CO state legislature. He was a very kind person and loved and supported his community. His passing leaves a definite void in the world. Kate and family and friends, I am holding you all in my heart.

Mike was both a great man and a wonderful mentor to me. I am saddened at the length it has been since seeing you all, and shocked to hear of his passing. My heart goes out to you, Kate, your boys and all those close to Mike. I will be there in spirit on wednesday. I know the world, as well as myself, will miss Mike greatly.

I had no idea what Mike's history was. I only knew him as a genuinely good person that it felt good to count among my friends. Great people leave us too soon. We miss you both, Kate, and our hearts ache for you.

I was never lucky enough to meet Mike, but from everything Kate has ever said, he was an amazing and wonderful man. This world is truly a sadder place without him.

Mike was always willing to pitch in to help, to offer his wry humor to diffuse an issue. Even in the throes of dealing with cancer, he offered up his well-known smile and laugh.

Just so sorry for your loss. Mike was clearly a wonderful human and I'd've loved the chance to meet him. Please know your old friends from all over are thinking of you, Kate.

I enjoyed working with Mike on several occasions and in each case he was dedicated & professional throughout the process. I am shocked & sad after hearing of his passing. He will truly be missed!

Although I know Kate online, the way she has spoken of Mike in the past, I feel we have all lost a very dear friend. My heart breaks for your loss, and you will be in my thoughts.

It is hard to say goodbye to such a good person and friend.

Mike was a person who lived his life giving to others and seeking the betterment of the world. He was a true friend to many people.

Mike was a friend, a good lawyer, and most importantly a good person. He will truly be missed, every day.

MIchael Duncan was a person of integrity, a person with great loyalty and a person with a fantastic laconic sense of humor. Michael served as an officer in the County Democratic Party in the early 90's and we could always count on him to be logical, low key and most of all - funny. I will miss Michael Duncan.

Mike will live on in all of the hearts of the organizations and people that he gave so much too....He was a champion for the underdog and a friend to so many. The world is poorer for his passing but richer for having had him for a short time. I pray that his memory brings comfort, especially to Kate and the boys.
