Michael Griswold Obituary

Michael Thomas Griswold, 52, went home to be with the Lord, October 30, 2006. Mike graduated from Widefield High School in 1972, the same year he was Widefield's first state wrestling champion at 98 lbs. Mike joined the United States Air Force after high school and retired as a Master Sergeant. In 1997 he and his family settled in Widefield. Mike's first love was his family, and he spent weekends being involved in his son's soccer and wrestling career. He was a great father and husband and will be missed. Mike was an avid Denver Broncos fan and was often seen around town in his orange and blue Denver cap. Mike enjoyed fishing and traveling with his family. Mike had a great sense of humor. We all enjoyed his antics and his gut-splitting laughter. He lived life to the fullest always lending a helping hand. He died as he lived sacrificing his life for others. He was our hero and we thank God for the time we had with him. Mike is survived by his wife of 32 years, Lynn, and their children, Brandon, Michelle and Kellen, and granddaughter Demi. Mike is also survived by brothers Dave, Rob and Steve and sisters Debbie Wheeland and Monica Seeley. Services will be held Friday at Pikes Peak Christian Church 4955 Bradley Rd, Security, CO at 1:00 p.m. Reception will be at the Post 38 American Legion 6685 Southmoore Dr. immediately following services. Contributions can be made to: Bank of Colorado 4328 Edison Avenue, C/O CIHAN Trucking for Michael Griswold, Account #441010093

I loved my brother with all my soul. My comfort in having him leave us is knowig that without a doubt that Mike is now in the Lords hands, his physical hands. He is being loved and at this moment is filled with so much joy and peace. I continue to pray daily for my loved ones. especially to you Lynn and the kids to find comfort in knowing the Lord. He will give us a peace beyond all human understanding. Let him fill you with his love and visions of Mike with Him. It doesn't make it easier here cause we miss his laughter and his antics and his smile. But we will see him again and this we are assured of because Mike knew Jesus and umderstood that Jesus died for our sins so we could be with him forever. I know each of you do to. Time and prayers and reaching out to each other will help us. I love my brothers family so deeply and I wish I could be close to you to hold you tight. May God comfort us deeply during this time and the season we are in. You are so prescious to the Lord and he will wipe away our tears and bring us joy again. I love you
Debbie

Dear Lynn,
Tony and I have had the honor of knowing you and Mike since High School, and his laughter lit up WHS just as he lit up our neighborhood in recent years! His love for you and your kids always was first in his life. He will be greatly missed!

I had the opportunity to meet Mike four months ago. His attitude and laughter, always helped start my day off in a good way.The effort he put forth learning a new job and trying to help anyone with anything he could, told me from day one he was a rare and special person. He's truely a hero to have put other peoples safety and welfare ahead of his own. Mike is in my thoughts and prayers and is missed by many.

Lynn, Brandon, Michelle, Kellen, and Joy,
I cannot begin to express the loss we feel and the sorrow in our hearts. Mike touched so many hearts and was loved by everyone. His laugh and silly jokes will leave us all memories of great times together, watching our boys grow up and us being "family". Mike was like a brother to us. Mike is my HERO! I'll miss him so much. You know that if you ever need anything we are here for you. God Bless you all.

Mr. Griswold was an inspiration. He was at every match, and I couldn't help but smile everytime I saw him. He always had a humorous comment for every situation, and he brightened up every tournament. The good lord will accept him with a smile, just as everybody else he ever knew. He will greatly be missed and I hold a special place for him in my heart.

Mike was hilarious, sweet, helpful, loved beyond comprehension. He would laugh and we all knew he was near, even my last memory of him was laughing with him. To say that Mike was a great guy is merely just words, but to see the outpouring of affection that Mike genuinely had and was expressed at every opportunity is what tells us that he WAS a great man. Not only will we miss him but we will live each event, each day with him in our hearts. Much love to the family that has accepted my family as part of theirs.

Lynn, Kids, & Grandkids ...
Coach Moore sent me an email the other night letting me know of Mike's sacrifice. I've been at a loss for words since then, which I have filled with prayer for you. Mike was a true friend -- I am so glad I was able to drop by and spend the afternoon visiting with him at our 30th high school reunion. You were the center of his life. He spoke with so much pride about you all. He's a true Champion in every sense of the word.

With God's Blessings,
