1929 - 2008. Dr. Michael J. McNally entered eternal life on February 14. He was born in Scranton, PA. in 1929 to Michael J. Sr. and Mary Elizabeth McNally. Mike received a B.S. degree from the University of Scranton. He graduated Cum Laude and was President of the senior class. He received his M.D. degree from Jefferson Medical College, Philadelphia, PA, in 1955 and was a member of the AOA Honor Society. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1955 to 1958. During that time he interned at the U.S. Naval Hospital in Philadelphia for one year and then took Flight Surgery Training at the U.S. Naval Base in Pensacola. He served as a Flight Surgeon and Group Medical Officer for Marine Air Group 11 in the Far East. He maintained a keen interest in the military and enjoyed visiting several installations with the Thirty Group. His Neurological Surgery training from 1959 to 1964 was completed at the Cleveland Clinic. He entered the private practice of Neurosurgery with Dr. Matthew Presti in 1964 in Colorado Springs. Their partnership later became the Colorado Springs Neurological Associates where he practiced until he retired in 1998. He married Mary Ellen on January 30, 1960, and has been very happy in marriage for 48 years. They have four children: Mary Beth, Colorado Springs; Maureen, Washington; Michael and his wife Michelle, Denver; and Mark and his partner Gordon, California. There are five grandchildren of which he is very proud: Madison, James, Miranda, Jack, and Mary Colleen. He has one brother: John P. McNally, California. He has been a member of multiple Neurosurgical Societies and regional medical groups. He served as President of Colorado Springs Neurological Associates for 20 years, President of the Rocky Mountain Neurosurgical Society, and is the past chair of the Medical Morals Committee of Penrose Hospital. He served on the Board of Directors of United, Norwest, and Wells Fargo Banks. He also served as a board member for Cheyenne Village and the Pikes Peak Range Riders. He had a particular interest in the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs, and has served on the Advisory Board for the Department of Letters, Arts and Sciences, and on the Development Committee of the Beth-El School of Nursing. He was very devoted to his busy practice of neurosurgery and enjoyed working with his patients and the excellent associates in the medical community. He loved to read and travel with Mary Ellen, and they were able to visit all seven continents. He especially enjoyed many rides with the Pikes Peak Range Riders, camping and golfing with his good friend Dr. Harvey Vieth, scuba diving with his buddy Dr. Milton Waldron, and Elk hunting with Jake Kunstle and the Ochs brothers. Memorial services will be held at Shove Chapel, Tuesday, February 19, at 1:00 p.m. A reception will follow at the Pikes Peak Center. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Michael J. McNally's name to Cheyenne Village, Goodwill Industries, or Beth-El School of Nursing. Mike and his family would like to thank their many good friends and associates who have contributed to a great life in this community over the many years.

I will be forever grateful to Dr. McNally. Our paths crossed in an operating room when I was only nine years old. He performed a craniotomy on me that saved my life. I am now a 37 year old wife and mother and thankful everyday that my life was in his hands.

Dear Mary Ellen. We just returned from a trip and learned of Mikes passing. Although it has been many years (I was the little pain), I still remember the Summers at Lake Henry. God Bless you and all of your family. May Mike rest in peace in Heaven.

Dear Mary Ellen, I never knew your mate, except through imagining what your husband would be like from knowing you a little - caring, gentlemanly, smart, generous and community-minded, like you. Colorado Springs has been blessed by both of you. May you and your family be surrounded by the arms and prayers of all who love you now and may God Himself hold you tight at night when the tears can't be kept at bay any longer.

Some years back, Dr. McNally saved our quality of life by fixing my husband's back. We would not have trusted anyone else to do such a delicate surgery. We knew he was a world class surgeon and we were fortunate to have him ! He was a kind and wonderful gentleman as well.

Calling him friend was an honor.

With Love,

Mary Ellen,
My thoughts are with you and your family today. Mike was truly an inspiration to other fathers and physicians. He personified all that is right in families and in the medical profession.
Mike gave me back my quality of life at a time I was serving in public office. His quality surgery and care helped me extend the committment I had made to my constitutients.
Mike rests comfortably with the Almighty, now. He rests in peace.
Peace be with you, too, Mary Ellen.

Papa-
I love you more then words can say.
You were an amazing man and even more amazing grandpa to me.
One of my fondest memories is of you and me at a marketplace when maybe i was about 4 or 5 years old. I wore my bright yellow star shaped sunglasses and you made me laugh and smile while we went around and got a good look at everything.
We shared so many memories I won't ever forget.
You will always be in my heart.
I love you.
xoxo,
Your First Grandchild.

As I've said before, it was a privilege to have cared for Dr. McNally while he was so very ill. I am extremely impressed with the care from you as his family and wonderful expressions of love from his many friends. Please know that I am thinking of you. My best to all of you.

Mrs. McNally and Family, I had the privilege of working for Dr. McNally for 3 years in the early 1990s. His dedication to and care for his patients has greatly influenced my own nursing practice. My condolences to you and your family at this sorrowful time.
