Michael Quinlan Obituary

Michael Quinlan, 41, passed peacefully at his home in Colorado Springs on October 25, 2011. Born and raised in Colorado Springs, CO. Michael attended Broadmoor Elementary and Cheyenne Mountain Junior High and High School. He attended Kansas State University and was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. He went on to graduate from Colorado State University. Upon graduation he worked with his father, Leo Quinlan, in the life insurance business and later made a career in the mortgage loan industry. Michael had been a member of the El Paso Club. As a young boy, he attended Sanborn Western Camp in Florissant, CO and became a camp counselor. Sanborn was a special place to him. Michael's greatest interest and hobby in life since childhood was bird hunting with his father and friends. He was a crack shot and loved his bird dogs - especially Daisy, his beloved yellow lab. He loved animals and the outdoors, was an excellent writer, including poetry. He will be remembered by all these things, and by his smile, sense of humor and caring nature. Michael is survived by his daughter, Charlotte Lee Quinlan; mother, Norma Lee Quinlan; sister, Jan Quinlan-Jacobs; brother-in-law, Jeffrey M. Jacobs; nephew, Hunter Jacobs; sister, Julie Quinlan; uncle and aunt Don and Joyce Hemme; uncle Robert Hemme and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Leo E. Quinlan; brother, Jeffrey M. Quinlan and daughter, Brigid Lee Quinlan. A celebration of life will be held at Chapel of Our Savior, Friday, November 4th at 2:30p.m. A gathering for all who knew and loved Michael will follow at Cheyenne Mountain Country Club, 7 Lake Ave. Memorial donations may be sent to Sanborn Western Camps, 2000 Old Stage Road, Florissant, Co 80816.
