When Mike and I meet in the 70's, we became friends right away. We found out that we had met before then.Mike told me he had a girlfriend in Germany named Wendy. I about fell over, Wendy was my friend, as we continued to talk, we found out we were at the same base at the same time, in germany. Small world we laughed.
I was shocked to find out about Mike! My heart broke, and I am morning a dearly missed friend. I have recently been trying to find old friends on facebook, started looking for Mike in November of last year. He was a good friend,I haven't seen him since the early 90's. I am so sad, Mike was an awesome person. I wished I would have stayed intouch with him. Your friends, Mike (Hoagie Man) will never forget you, will always miss you, and look forward to meeting up with you again. For now I will hold on to the wonderful memories. My deepest sympathies to your family,it must be a very loud silence for them. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. I came across your obit. and on the sixteenth of Dec.I was flooded with thoughts of what seemed like generations ago when we had a juvenile agenda such as riding your motorcycle around town ,chasing girls and playing olfun , games I probably gained some comedic skills from you as what a comedian you always were like one I could never muster or master and that was when you extended your abdomen to look pregnant still cracks me up ( Oh by the way I just pushed in a C.D. called Gaudi by Alan Parsons Project and it started playing track three thats a sign right?)I had this all typed up already and mysteriously it disappeared so now i'm composing another know anything about that? could be more monkey shines considering I may be a one finger typer ha ha ha.. any way man first off let me say I'm so sorry for what your mother is enduring at this time as we both know it takes something out of a parent when they have a childs premature demise because that is not conceivable or acceptable that there is any mission here that could possibly no longer include this child of light from my own perspective a parents gaze lacks some sparkle till they can gaze upon them once again but that's what makes this such a magnificent journey in this short (parenthesis in time)debut we impact many lives like you did mine because of many agendas ,responsibilities we lost contact other than a casual passing by because we were always runnin into each other in Mayberry or weedfield (Widefield, Security) I had to mention this one day Gerke and I happened by and you had just gotten paid from your job at Ft. Carson and you were putting the finishing touches on some new big speakers or some quadriphonic addition anyway you produced an album you had just acquired called Uriah Heep Live needless to say it came alive in your room and have probably never been the same since ha.ha... seriuosly though Mick Box has been one of my guitar gods since and I thank you and fom now on when when i hear any it will be like new years eve in my mind got it?If you can at any time influence stuuations and circumstances from a higher plane than add me to your list of contacts so as I was thinking about the concert in your room and how one night Susan and Carl had left a 45r.p.m. playing out in the den over and over all night and when we got up we both couldn't stop singing Papa Was A Rolling Stone it was so funny and i can still sing it by the way this has turned out to be totally differant from what disappeared except for some items like so while I'm remeniscing the radio played Uriah Heeps Easy Livin coincidental I think not and was for my eyes only , but in this case for my ears only Thank You for the message it just solidifies my research concerning subspace and the fact you cannot destroy energy you can only transform it by the way again I'm wondering if when we think about some one who existed on this plane is it like a hello of sorts after all our thoughts are the most powerful transmissions existant in the universe and encourage people to understand the Law of Love. Impart to Ben sorry I didn't attend his celebration of life and wasn't aware of his relocating as yours at the Detour anyway I will have one every time I think about my partners in crime ha.ha... and please acknowledge my hellos for Ken R.,Carl Y.,Carl P.,Frank M. Larry, Sharon,Sam,Amos you know who thats all the importance here. You know even looking back at our close brush with a form of hell in Colfax County it wasn't nearly the end of the world because we were there together in our momentary lapse of reason God Bless us all.

It isn't often in life that I find myself coming up short on words.
My girls loved going to see Nikki so they could water the plants with you and find your change. They loved your mask and the wrestling matches you let them win! Your loving nature with kids was evident in all that you did when they were there.
I loved playing Rock trivia with you (and having to drink) because you were by far the genius of all dates and events!!!!
It was an adventure in knowing you and you will be greatly missed.
(P.S. I got rid of that "damn car" like you told me to)

Havn't seen Mike for quite along time, but I do remember him bailing me out of a few jams. He put up my bail a couple of times, course that gave him total open game rights on me, and he used it with a lot of wit and humor, Mike was always fair and fun to be around and I will always think of him with fond, fun memories. More people should be like Mike!!

What can I say about my friend, Michael Rea? I have known him for approximately 20 years and some things never change. Mike is one of those kind of guys. Given the population of Colorado Springs, I swear, Mike knows most of the people that live in this city. I don't believe he ever met a stranger and if he did, they were only a stranger once. Mike was a hard working man. He loved his family and cared deeply about his friends. That is just what he did, he gave, he gave, and he gave...Mike never asked for favors but he gave a lot of them to people he knew. He gave so much of himself that sometimes I think it swallowed him whole. Then, somehow, he always found a reserve. I spent a lot of time talking to Mike about life, love, and happiness. I don't think he always had an answer for me but he certainly gave me a lot insight and perspective. I will truly miss this wonderful man! I pray for his family and his friends and wish all of you comfort this day. May God bless and keep you all close to him in these sorrowful times. Mike I just know that you and Jerry are watching us all and having the last laugh on us! I can't believe you are gone! Rest in peace...

I am very saddened to learn of Michaels death. He was truly one of a kind. Always laughing and joking and many times the joke was on me. He leaves many friends that really loved him even when you hadn't seen him in a long time.We had many good times at the pocket. I hadn't seen you in 10 years but always wondered if you were going to show up when I was cooking and eat all my dinner as you had so many times in the past.My entire family will always miss you but your going to find good company in your new life. My heart goes out to your mom, Nikki, brothers and sisters.

I have known Mike for many years and he was truly a great friend. I will miss him and the good times we shared. He was the kind of guy that always had your back and never hesitated to help others when needed. I hope all of his friends and associates will honor his memory by doing the same to help his family in this time of need. I have done my part by giving back to Mike with a donation to his memorial fund at Ent Credit Union and hope others will follow. Let's show Mike that we can be there for him as he was always there for us. RIP

Dear Mike,
You were a true blue friend; the best a girl could have asked for. You and Larry (Graves) were the brothers I never had, and I loved you both dearly. Damn, you'll really be missed.
Until next time, I wish for a peaceful heart to all of those who held you dear, and right along with them I am better for having known you.
Love, Julie

The Rea family Kenneth Jr. Susie, Deborah, Steve, David, Caroline, Brian and those that were close to him would like to thank those who contacted us or posted thier comments and pictures. Mike always put everyone around him before himself and it shows when you read all the comments. Words like always smiling, good friend, caring and lets not forget the life of the party. From the day he was born he was quite the handful for both his parents and siblings. Every family reunion was filled with tales of Mike reeking havok among the kids in our neighborhood from Germany to Colorado Springs. Burning the candle at both ends or living life in the fast lane was an understatement with Mike. Family and friends first, work hard and play hard pretty much describes Mike's lifesyle. The reunions will never be the same without him. Thanks again.

I met Mike years ago when he was my next door neighbor. I was a single Mom and he was so good to my kids. One time my son Ian had a flat tire on his bicycle and Mike said bring it over and I'll put some air in it. He was using the compressor and talking to someone and the tire exploded. Ian being young almost cried. Mike said "well I guess I have to buy you a new tire". He did the next day.
My birthday is Jan. 21 and yours was Jan 28. We would have a drink in between our birthday's and one year you taught me how to ski. Then someone sifened the gas out of your truck and we ran out of gas. I cut your hair for many years. I will always love you, never forget you, and you are always in my heart.

Mike, I dont think I could have asked for a better brother and friend than you were to me and those around you. Friendly, funny, caring, upbeat are just a few words that come to mind. I can honestly live the rest of my life out without the guilt of not telling you how I felt because you always got along so well with your family and the many friends around you. I couldnt go anywhere with you without bumping into a friend or aqaintance spotting you and and saying "HI" You will be missed, not only by your family but by anyone that had a chance to get to know you.
Rest in peace bro and say "HI" to dad for me. Steve........
