I worked with Mike at USAA for 15 years, he was always jovial and full of life. I can still hear his deep voice and distinct funny laugh - it makes me smile and warms my heart. I now live in the DC area, but was able to attend his service - which was as beautiful as he was. All who attended loved him dearly. My condolences to his family and friends, especially to Kendra, whom he adored completely.
I will miss you, but will always have fond memories of you. Heaven has a fabulous new drummer!

Wow, what a tragic loss of a wonderful being!
Mike and I were very close in our teens and twenties. We shared many common interests, including music, gaming, rock climbing, science fiction, art, etc.
Mike was a master strategist, and just about unbeatable at the many games he turned me on to, including Cribbage, Dungeons and Dragons, Nightime glow-in-the-dark suicide frisbee, etc...His love of gaming was infectious, and he even designed and created his own games! This rubbed off on me, and to this day I still create hand-made gameboards in my spare time.
I shared my interest in art with Mike, even loaning-out my paint set and all of my brushes for his experimentation (see photo).
Back when we could still get away with it, we would freestyle climb in The Garden Of The Gods, with Mike's long limbs giving him a huge advantage. We watched fireworks all around us from the top of Grayrock one July 4th with other friends, and somehow climbed down in the dark, a true miracle!
Mike's love of music was incredible! We made weekly trips to "Recycle Records" in downtown C.S., and Mike's vinyl collection quickly grew to over 500 albums! He loved to play D.J. in his music room when he wasn't pounding the drum set. His parents Martha and Cecil must be saints to put up with all of that noise, but I and our friends loved every minute of it!
I was honored to be a groomsman at Mike's wedding. It was Mike's father who convinced us jokers to fill the honeymoonmobile with weeds! (Sorry for calling you out Mr. Weed! Love You :)
Mike, you will truly be missed! I will see you in heaven...save me a seat at the gaming table my brother!

I am just devastated to learn of Mike's passing. I worked for him for several years and not only was he my friend, but he was a mentor and a person I greatly respected. I just moved to Arizona or I would be there to pay my respects. God Bless you Mike.
