Mildred Hopkins Obituary

Hopkins
Mildred Elizabeth Hopkins
June 25, 1919 - March 1, 2018
Mildred Elizabeth Hopkins, age 98, a resident of Colorado Springs since 1954, went to heaven rejoicing on March 1, 2018.
Millie was born on June 25, 1919 in Los Angeles, CA to the late George and Alice (Wellemeyer) Hopkins. Upon the death of Alice in 1924 her sister, Laura very lovingly took care of the young family and later married their father George.
Millie was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers: Harold, Willard and Robert. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Laura Hopkins Granzow; nephews, Gerald, Harold, Mark, Gary; nieces, Nancy, Karin; their spouses and families.
From 1943-1986 Millie worked with The Navigators, a Christian discipling organization. As Executive Assistant to President/General Director Lorne Sanny, she found great joy in serving all of the NavStaff. She felt the Lord had specifically prepared her for this position at the nerve-center of the fast-growing Christian ministry and gave her innumerable lifetime friends.
Millie enjoyed fellowship at First Evangelical Free Church. In 2001 she moved to Village at Skyline Retirement Community where she led a Bible study for five years and until last November, played the piano for the Sunday morning service. She also enjoyed many close relationships there.
A memorial service is scheduled for April 14, 2:00 p.m. at Brookdale Skyline.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Millie's memory to The Navigators Fund for Seniors, P.O. Box 6000, Colorado Springs, CO 80934.
