Mildred Largent Obituary

Mildred Gloria Largent, a long-time resident of the Security area, died Wednesday the 17th of May at Laurel Manor Care Center where she resided with her husband, Jim Largent.



Born January 26, 1935 in La Veta, CO to Donald and Tilda Ward, she grew up in a family with 9 siblings. She graduated Valedictorian from La Veta High School and went on to join the Navy WAVES. She proudly served her country in Washington DC, where she met her soulmate of 62 years.



Mildred was a Lifetime VFW member, where she was honored to present scholarships to graduating high school seniors as the treasurer for Post 3917 and the District Auxiliary. She donated many hours to the Girl Scouts as a Troop Leader and then a Service Unit Leader. She enjoyed spending time with her family and cooking enough food to "feed Ft. Carson". She was happiest when her children and grandchildren would spend the night in her home and she could cook for them.



She is survived by her husband, James T. Largent and her daughters Cheryl Taylor (Jeff), Sandy Strempke and Sharon Von Vett (Bill) all of Colorado Springs, CO; 7 loving grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.



She was greeted in heaven by her infant daughter Gloria, son-in-law Roger Strempke, 2 sisters and 4 brothers.



A funeral celebrating her life will be held at 10 am, Saturday, June 10, 2017 at Dove-Witt Mortuary in Fountain, CO. Burial will be at Ft. Logan National Cemetery at a later date.
