Mildred Yvonne Proby of Colorado Springs, Colorado passed away from natural causes in her home on November 25th 2024 in Colorado Springs, Colorado at the age of 89 years old. She was born on January 30th 1935 in Stillwater, Oklahoma. She earned her Bachelor's degree in business from Lincoln University In Jefferson City Missouri. After moving to Colorado Springs, Colorado Mildred was an Elementary School Teacher in school District 11 for more than 35 years, where she was one of the first African American educators. She won several awards from multiple civic and social organizations, but she will mostly be remembered as an educator who loved her students and demanded excellence and as the pastor's wife and foundation of St. John's Baptist church for 25 years.
She is preceded in death by her mother and father, James and Dorothy Judie, her brother Joe Judie, and her sister Mary Lou Foster. She is survived by her Daughter Veronica Renee Proby-Elder, her Son M. James Proby (Kelli), her Grand Children James Elder, Isaiah Elder, Tessa Stanley and Treven Stanley as well as several neices, nephews and extended family that she loved dearly.
Memorial Services will be held on Monday December 9th 2024 10:00 amAt Springs Funeral Services 3115 E. Platte Avenue 80909.
The family would like to extend its gratitude to the many well wishers, and those who have lifted this Family in meditation and prayer.

My Condolences. Mrs. Probably was my 4th grade teacher years ago. She was so wonderful and great lady. I still remeber all these years the sentence she had her students write 25 times if we got in trouble for talking. "Excessive talking and playing in the classroom is unacceptable behavior."

I taught with Millie at Adams Elementary and Mark Twain Elementary. Always enjoys talking with her during lunch and after school. She was a very good teacher and mentor, touching many lives including mine.

Mrs. Proby was a mentor to me and a great friend. I miss her yesterday, today and tomorrow. I am sorry for the family´s loss. Prayers to all who knew her.
