Mildred Riggs Obituary

Mildred A. Riggs, beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away peacefully on March 18, 2014 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was born in Champaign, Il March 29 1922, the second of 3 daughters born to the late Leo and Anna Marie Tempel. She was married to Lewis Aaron Riggs on December 22, 1944. He preceded her in death on November 29, 1963.

After graduating high school she worked at Mercy Hospital in Chicago in the birthing unit. Later, to help the war effort, she worked as a riveter. When Lewis returned from the war they moved to Colorado where she devoted her life to raising their 5 children.

Family and friends were extremely important in her life. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her loving children, Ron (Sandy) Riggs, Rebecca (Robert) Baker, Deborah (Charles) Parker, TinaMarie (Mark) Korum, Timothy (Cheryl ) Riggs; precious grandchildren, Chris, Mark, Jeff, Michelle, Luke, Katie and Andrew; Precious great grandchildren Justin, Ryan, Dylan, Isabella, and Mady; as well as a host of wonderful nieces, nephews and friends; especially her phone buddy Alma Thompson. She also leaves behind her very most loving and constant companion her Kitty, Sofie. All are from Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Visitation will take place Monday March 31, 2014 from 5:00 - 6:30 p.m., at Swan-Law Funeral Directors, 501 North Cascade Avenue, Colorado Springs. A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at 1:30 (Rosary) 2:00p.m. Mass, at St Mary's Cathedral, 22 West Kiowa St.

Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Colorado Springs.
