Miles Henselman Obituary

Miles L. Henselman, beloved husband, father, and uncle, passed away peacefully at home with family surrounding him on Sunday, February 26, 2017 in Elbert, Colorado. He was born in Oakland, California in 1950, the first of three children to Miles and Jane Henselman. He attended high school in California and later moved to Oregon where he finished high school. In Oregon, he also earned his Bachelor's Degree in Economics at Oregon State University.

While serving in the United States Army, he earned his Master's Degree in Systems Engineering Management at the University of Southern California. Miles served in the US Army for 23 years and achieved the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. As a US Army Aviator and later a Research and Development officer, he worked on projects that took him around the United States and into Europe and eventually to the US Embassy in Bonn Germany.

Miles was dedicated to the defense of freedom and equality. He believed in the importance of education and the strength of family and community. He was involved in community projects while living in Europe as an officer as well as in the US on his return. He assisted his children and their peers in school events, scouting programs and the Colorado 4H programs. Miles was hard working, patient and generous.

He leaves behind his devoted wife, Joneila Henselman; loving children, Anne Marie Henselman, Natalia Henselman and Johnathan Henselman; his mother, Jane Henselman, his two loving sisters Marla Ragsdale of California and Melissa Shadwick of Oregon; as well as wonderful brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, mother and father in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends.
