Millicent "Mitzy" Gale (Sorkness) Collins
1924 - 2017
Mitzy Collins of Colorado Springs, CO died of natural causes at her residence on 24 December 2017. She was born in Chicago, IL on 29 May 1924. She was the eldest of two daughters of Sydney and Luella Sorkness and is survived by her sister Nancy Henning of Fort Collins, CO.
Mitzy graduated from Jamestown High School in North Dakota in 1942. She continued her education at North Dakota State University in Fargo, ND and after two years she matriculated at the Wood Tobe-Coburn School in New York, NY where she received a degree in fashion merchandising.
In 1947, she married Gilbert Collins and they remained together until 2003 when he passed away. Mitzy is survived by four children: Michael David Collins of Los Angeles, CA; Linda Susan Collins of Eugene, OR; Christopher John Collins of San Diego, CA; Jennifer Diane Collins of Yakima, WA. She is also survived by six grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Mitzy spent a great deal of her energies raising her children. She was a complicated woman of high ideals, she was also nobody's fool.
Mitzy moved to the ViewPointe Complex in Colorado Springs in August of 2016 where she became a cherished friend of many of the staff.

What a treat to have met this wonderful lady. She was a true "pal" Always brunch at 11:11 and "Go Yankees" I miss you terribly, I will see you next Christmas helping Santa on Christmas Eve!!
