Mindy Peters Obituary

Mindy Diane Peters went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on the morning of Saturday, February 6, 2016 due to a brain tumor, in Sidney, Nebraska. Mindy was born on May 11, 1973 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Mindy was one of two children born to Ken and Judith Wiens.

Mindy spent most of her childhood in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She then moved back to Colorado Springs, where she graduated High School from Colorado Springs Christian Schools. She went on to get her B.S. degree and teaching certificate from the University of Northern Colorado. Mindy had a special place in her heart to travel to other countries. She was able to go to Russia, Malaysia, and to teach in China. She then came back to the U.S. and started teaching in one of the districts in Colorado Springs.

At church, she met her future husband Robert Peters. Rob and Mindy were married in January of 1998. Mindy continued teaching until the birth of her first child. She changed her teaching job from teaching children to taking care of her children, Lydia, and Danay. Shortly after Danay was born, Rob and Mindy went to China to adopt a little girl they named Jenju. They went on to have one more girl named Tirzah.

Rob changed jobs which took them to Sidney, Nebraska. Mindy started homeschooling her daughters, and continued to teach them, almost all the way up until her death. This was not the only teaching she did though. She also helped out with Awana and Sunday School at her local church, as well as taught at The Ark in her town. Mindy felt it was important to teach her daughters about volunteering, so once a year they volunteered at a Food Distribution Center in Nebraska. Her life was dedicated to serving God and sharing Jesus with everyone she met.

Mindy leaves behind her husband Rob, her four lovely daughters, Lydia (11), Danay (9), Jenju (9) and Tirzah (6). She is also survived by her father Ken Wiens and sister Lori Wiens in Colorado Springs, and In-Laws that live in New Mexico and Oregon. Mindy had countless Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and other relatives, as well as many blessed friends all over the country.

There will be a memorial service held at Woodmen Valley in the Stone Chapel 290 E. Woodmen Rd Colorado Springs, CO 80919 on March 4th at 10:30 A.M.

In lieu of flowers Mindy asked donations to be given to The Ark in care of Brent Jeffers at Evangelical Free Church 2763 11th Ave. in Sidney, Nebraska 69162. Cremation has been held. You may view Mindy's Book of Memories, leave condolences, photos and stories at www.gehrigstittchapel.com.

Mindy wholeheartedly believed that life is sacred, but that this was not her home, she is now home.
