Miriam Peck Obituary

Miriam A. Peck, 88 years, passed away peacefully at Freedom Village, Bradenton, Florida on June 17, 2014. She is predeceased two years earlier by her loving husband of 64 years, Robert Bowman Normand Peck.

Born December 4, 1925 in Chicago, Illinois, Miriam was the daughter of Dr. Rev. Gottfred Nelson and Anna Almquist Nelson. Predeceased by her sister Marjorie Palm, brothers Stanley, Vincent, and Virgil; and nieces Linnea, Noreen, and nephews Noel, Andy; and survived by nieces and nephews Janice, Chuck, Marjorie, Wayne.

Miriam called Evanston, IL home, where she met and married Robert Peck, started their family and shortly afterwards they moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado, where she raised four children, and worked part time as a dental hygienist (Northwestern University Dental School). Upon retirement, Miriam and Robert moved to Holmes Beach, Florida, and enjoyed 30 years of retirement living near the Gulf.

She was a wonderful devoted mother, school volunteer, active volunteer in the Colorado Dental Hygienists Association, a Beta Sigma Phi life member, Xi Upsilon and Laureate Beta Chapters, a life member of the Anna Maria Garden Club, and was active in The Anna Maria Island Power Squadron's Helpmates Auxiliary. She enjoyed the outdoors, loved driving through Colorado, played tennis in retirement, loved walking the white sand beaches on the Gulf, enjoyed numerous out of country trips with Denver's Ports of Call and on their own, and enjoyed the local arts and plays.

She was beautiful inside and out. A sweet and loving mom, who taught by example, enjoyed her Swedish heritage and cooking.

She is survived by their 4 children Barbara, Joanne (John), Ronald, and Nancy (Rick) and grandsons Christopher and Zachary.

She has been interred with her husband at Fort Logan National Cemetery, Denver, CO.
