Miriam Stewart Obituary

Miriam Louise Stewart, 91, a Colorado Springs resident from 1997 to 2006, passed away January 12, 2006. She was born on December 22, 1914, in Abbeville, LA to Eli Joseph and Ethel (Finley) LeBlanc, who preceded her in death. Miriam was graduated from Louisiana State University and received a Masters Degree from Colorado State University. Miriam was married to Thomas M. Stewart on August 29, 1941 in Abbeville, LA. She first taught Home Economics at Erath High School in Erath, LA and retired from teaching in Boulder, CO. Miriam is survived by her husband, Thomas M. Stewart; daughter, Donna (Bill) Sasz, Colorado Springs; sons, Thomas (Sally) Stewart, Oak Park, IL, Stephen (Marilyn) Stewart, Colorado Springs; nine grandchildren, Kimberly and Kevin Stewart; Bryan, Stephanie and Jeffrey Sasz; and Charlotte, Errin, Scott and Kari Stewart. One sister, Janice Kelly, Fort Worth, TX, also survives her. Her sister, Mary Katherine Joseph, and brother, Osborne LeBlanc, preceded Miriam in death. Miriam was a member of Chi Omega Sorority and Daughters of the American Revolution. She was formerly a member of Broadmoor Community Church in Colorado Springs. Visitation for Miriam Stewart will be from 3:00 - 7:00 p.m., Monday, January 16, 2006 at Swan-Law Funeral Home, 501 N. Cascade Avenue, Colorado Springs. Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, January 17, 2006 at Lehmberg Chapel, located at First United Methodist Church, 420 N. Nevada Avenue, Colorado Springs. Burial will be at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Odyssey Hospice or the National Alzheimer's Association.
