Monika Schmidt Obituary

Monika Angelina Schmidt, of Colorado Springs, passed away after an extended illness on Tuesday June 14, 2016 at 57 years of age. She was born on March 10, 1959 to Franz and Helene Brueckner of Frohnhofen, Germany. Monika married her lifelong love and husband of 31 years, Karl P Schmidt on April 27, 1985 in Aschaffenburg, Germany.

They made their home in Colorado Springs after years of traveling with the Army. Monika spent the majority of her years as a homemaker and mother and was active as a volunteer with several churches and other organizations. She enjoyed walking, reading, and gardening, and constantly strove for a healthy lifestyle and spiritual growth. She was a kind, strong-willed, open-minded, and selfless person with a contagious sense of optimism. Her positivity and consistency of character will be sorely missed by family and friends alike.

She is survived by her husband Karl, their two sons, Kevin and David, her mother Helena, and her brother Karlheinz.

Monika will always hold a special place in my heart. Hoping her family has found peace and healing in the time since Monika's passing. Remember the fun times you had with her as a mother and wife. She was a very special Lady. (I knew her when stationed in Germany 1983 & 1984)
