Morgan Elliot Stone, a life-long resident of Manitou Springs, CO, passed away suddenly on Wednesday October 11, 2023, at the age of 36 at his home.
Morgan was preceded in death by his grandparents; his father, Douglas Stone; his mother, Joyce Stone (née Hosken); and his uncle, Bruce Hosken; and his aunt, Judy Obermeyer. He is survived by his stepfather, Lane Williams; his stepsister, Karli Williams; his uncle, Mike Obermeyer; his cousins Carrie Obermeyer, Mark Obermeyer, and Brock Stone; his niece, Bailey Nunez; and his nephew, Cory Cason.
Morgan was born in Colorado Springs on May 3, 1987, to Douglas and Joyce Stone. After the passing of his mother, he was raised by his stepfather, Lane. He graduated from Manitou Springs High School in 2005, and The University of Colorado in 2011, with a bachelor's degree in arts. Morgan completed the Manitou Springs Citizens Academy in June 2023.
Morgan spent his time immersing himself in new technology, music, geology, and world travel. His interests were extremely broad. He was knowledgeable about history and loved anything old that he could preserve and share with others. He was devoted to his community and neighborhood and adopted those around him into his family. Morgan befriended his neighbor's daughter, Cora, went to her school events, taught her to play the violin, and told everyone that would listen how awesome she was. He cherished his friendships, was always available, and put in the effort to keep in touch with his friends. He traveled to Germany often to visit his friends, Katia and Rico, and participate in their lives. Morgan was generous, gentle, sensitive, and was ready to help at a moment's notice. He could regularly be found on his front porch talking to neighbors and providing updates on any roaming wildlife that he saw. Morgan was unafraid to be goofy in the name of fun and had an outfit for every occasion which always included a hat! He wore onesies with the neighbors on Christmas morning to open presents just to make everyone laugh and never missed their weekly Friday dinners.
Morgan's absence is felt immensely, and he will be deeply missed by all those lucky enough to have known him. Memorial details will be announced at a later date.

Morgan hearing this sudden news about you has literally broken my heart. I have viewed you as a son to me and a brother to Tim. You two at one time were so very close and you looked the same, like brothers. I have many fond memories of when the two of you were young and did things together. May you rest in peace sweet boy and be with your Mom and Dad and Pappy but most of all The Lord. We will never, ever forget you.
