Morten Fadum Obituary

"On the river and out of the mist...We give Death and Dancing equal place...No one asked for less. It was a great adventure."

My mother gifted me Morten´s poetry book in 2005 after an art show in Wisconsin I think. And then Christmas 2007 she passed away. His poetry always struck a chord and was a source of comfort. When applying to undergraduate school I used his poem, "Only the dancer stops, and the dance goes on forever."

And now as I apply to graduate school I feel called back to the first poem I mentioned to initiate my personal statement. His work reaches through the void. Definitely a spiritual mentor for me...whom I never met. His work and legacy live on and continue to inspire. Love and light to his living relatives.

A true gentleman! He leaves many friends and fans on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. I and my sons cherish his carvings and the fond memories of his visits to the Waterfowl Festival. Please accept our condolences. Bill & Becky Wieland

This expression of sympathy is not nearly enough to describe the loss of Mort, my sincere friend and all around good guy.
Meeting artists from everywhere at art shows, visiting the east coast, fishing in the mountains of Colorado, meeting the wonderful Fadum family, and the beautiful friendship that we had are memories that I will never forget.

So hard to find the right words, although they would have just rolled off your tongue or pencil. My Father taught me to be a Man. You taught me to be the man I want to be, although I'm still learning. Never have I known such patience and kindness, along with such talent and wisdom. A true friend, a true Man......A true privilege to call you my friend. I look forward to crossing paths and planning an adventure with you again my friend, I'll miss your wisdom and kindness
