Murray Fudim Obituary

Murray Fudim
Mar. 7, 1939 - Feb. 22, 2014
Resident of Walnut Creek
Murray Fudim, long time resident of Walnut Creek, passed away on February 22, 2014 while visiting in Provo, Utah. He was born April 7, 1939 in the Bronx, NY to Louis and Eva Fudim. Murray was 11 years old when his family moved from their one-bedroom, third floor walk-up in the Bronx to a home in Westbury, Long Island.
Murray graduated from Westbury High School in 1956 and he graduated from Adelphi in Garden City, NY with a degree in chemistry in 1961. Murray proudly served in the U.S. Air Force from 1961 to 1965. He was stationed in Colorado, Japan and Thailand and was honorarily discharged as a 1st Lieutenant in 1965.
In 1962, Murray married Kathleen McIntyre of Denver, Colorado. They had five children: David (Grass Valley), Jennifer (deceased), Jonathan (Spanish Fork, UT) Maura (Sacramento), and Jessica (San Francisco). Murray married his second wife, Gloria Harris, in 1982 and they had one son, Benjamin (Concord).
Murray worked as a chemical engineer for National Adhesives from 1965 to 1970. In 1970, Murray joined with three partners to form Western Adhesives in Oakland, CA. This company was sold in 1981. In 1987 Murray started his own adhesives company, Pacific Adhesives of Sacramento, CA. He was later joined by partners Bud Whitehead and David Molta.
In 1995, Murray was diagnosed with polycythemia vera, a type of blood cancer caused by exposure to chemicals. Although this disease compromised his health in recent years, his death resulted from a fall at a local dog park. Murray developed a subdural hematoma and he died while visiting grandchildren in Utah.
Murray was survived by his wife, 5 children and 11 grandchildren all of whom he loved dearly.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to your favorite charity or to the MPN Research Foundation which advances blood cancer research.
A memorial service will be held at Congregation B'Nai Shalom, 74 Eckley Lane in Walnut Creek on Sunday, March 2 at 1pm, followed by a graveside service at Oakmont Memorial Park in Lafeyette and a celebration of life at the Crown Plaza Hotel in Concord at 3:30pm.

To Murray...rest in peace my friend...I can see your smile knowing we will all meet again soon enough!

To Gloria, Ben and family: we never met but I feel I know you as when I had the pleasure of advising Murray on a special business project, we frequently talked of our families and good times (Costa Rica and more). May you find peace in your memories and your never ending love.

Dearest Ben and Family,
Our hearts will be with you, as you make the journey of sending your beloved father to his final resting place. It may not feel that time will heal, but I tell you from experience, there will come a time that happy memories will give you great comfort. We will have all of your family in our thoughts, but most especially, you, Ben.
Love, Jeff, Colleen & Blake
