Nancy Dolaway

January 8, 1939

July 1, 2021

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Nancy Dolaway, 82, of Colorado Springs, CO. She passed peacefully at home, surrounded by her beloved family on July 1st, 2021. She was born January 8th, 1939 in Elmira, NY the daughter of Carl and Ruth Nelson. Nancy was a spirited and compassionate woman who dedicated her life to caring for her family. She was a devoted army wife of 63 years, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, friend and trusted confidant.

Nancy's happiest times were when family was together. Nancy was known to all as a master cook and could make the best dang sandwiches! She cared deeply for her friends and family. She did this not out of obligation, but because of who she was. Her ability to listen and give great wisdom was shown through her dedication to helping families of alcoholism. She helped these families for over 40 years and touched countless lives. Nancy was thoughtful and her way of showing love and support included her abundant supply of meaningful greeting cards she had for any occasion. Nancy flourished on giving cards that were perfect and genuine for the situation. She had an exceptional ability to recall names, details, and even addresses when telling stories of her incredible life, making her stories captivating and fun to hear.

She was an outspoken woman who always told you the truth, even if it wasn't what you wanted to hear. She liked four letter words as much as she loved her flowers. Nancy kept an immaculate house and you could bet everything was germ free, well before germs mattered. Regardless of how she felt, she always had a sense of humor. She would bring levity to the toughest situations.

Nancy will be missed dearly and remembered as a loving, caring, determined woman who never wanted to miss out on any good times with family and friends. She leaves us with her great recipes and many wonderful memories. She inspired her family to stay united and keep strong bonds.

Nancy is survived by her two children, Terri Aguero and Jeff Dolaway (Yvonne). Sister Debbie Emeno (Donnie). Grandchildren, Jessica Cruz (Kurt), Shree Dolaway, Kaitlin Miera (Merritt), Taylor Dolaway, Rebekah Aguero, Jessy Medina, and Jade Gustafson (Caelib). Great grandchildren, Michael, Ethan, Aeva, Alexander, Caiden, and Daniel. Nephew, Steven Dickinson. Nieces, Pam Bellamy, Shelly Mathews, and Kelly Nelson. Preceded in death by husband Arthur (Bill) Dolaway and brother Rick Nelson,

A celebration of Nancy's life will be on August 6th, 2021 at 2PM. The service will be held at Cappadona located at 1020 E. Fillmore St, Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Aunt Nancy and I developed a bond during the times when Uncle Bill was in Viet Nam and Jeff and Terri were young children. Each time he was deployed, Aunt Nancy came to Elmira to keep her children settled. While those times of deployment were hard on her, I enjoyed our time together immensely. Life carried on after Uncle Bill's returns, moves, jobs, etc., with our connections more sporadic. A phone call to them often ended up in an hour long conversation. Over the last couple of years, those phone conversations were more often and we never searched for something to talk about!!! I loved them both. Rest well, Aunt Nancy. I'm so happy you are reunited with Uncle Bill.
