Nancy Heizer Obituary

Nancy Marie Heizer, beloved, beloved, and loving mother, daughter, sister, wife, and friend passed away unexpectedly on May 4th to the sorrow of all who knew her. She will be sorely missed. Nancy was born February 20, 1948 in Jacksonville, FL., and lived in several parts of the country as she grew up, most notably in Fairbanks, AK. Later she came to live in Southern California and finally in Colorado Springs, where she lived for the last 28 years. She worked for the last eight years at the U.S. Figure Skating Association. She was relentlessly passionate about the welfare of children, and was particularly motivated by children's literacy. She spent many years as both a volunteer and as an employee at First Presbyterian Church. In addition to her tireless devotion to others, she was always driven to improve herself through education, and had recently started learning to play guitar. Nancy is survived by her husband, Sam;, her father, Ted Wolfe; her children: July Kunz and Clay Kunz and their father, Greg Kunz; and her stepchildren: Ken, Tim, and Jeff. She is also survived by her sister, Karen and brothers: Ted, David, and Richard. Her brother, George and her mother, Emma both passed away before her. Nancy was the extremely happy and proud grandmother of ten grandchildren: Samantha, Dustin, Madison, Justin, Michaela, Grant, Wesley, Kyle, Katie, and Jasper Kunz; aged 14 years to 17 months. Nancy was a beautiful human being, a source of joy and inspiration for everyone who knew her. We miss her. Visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 Wednesday and 9:00 - 12:00 Thursday at Swan-Law Funeral Home, 501 North Cascade Avenue, Colorado Springs. Interment will be 1:00 p.m., Thursday at Evergreen Cemetery, Colorado Springs. A Celebration of Life will be Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 219 East Bijou, Colorado Springs. Dear Grandpa,

Grandma ment a lot to the family, and she will allway's be there watching over us. It is like she fell out of heaven. Now it is time for her to do another job for God. One of these job's is watching over the people she loves wich is a lot. She loved so many. I wish she was still here with us, but i know she is still with us just in a different way. Also I know she is in very good hands.

She came into my life with a smile and open arms. She knew how to love with a love so deep that you could never find the bottom. She shared in joys, sorrows, good times, bad times, times of want , times of plenty. Through all of her life she never wavered in her love of God and her faith in her Lord Jesus Christ. We may never know why God wanted her to spend Christmas with Him but I will never doubt that this is God's will for her. Merry Christmas Nancy...I will never stop loving you. ...Sam

Sam,

I know losing Nancy is devastating for you & the kids as she was such a smiley, happy person; just as yourself! I like what you said, "Nancy was only on loan to you from God & he decided he needed her more than you". That is a wonderful thing to say & may it always provide you peace at heart my friend!

Love,

Rena

I worked at US Figure Skating as a temporary employee for two months. During those two months, I became very fond of Nancy. She always knew how to make people smile as she always carried a smile on her face. She was a very happy, loving and caring individual and will be missed greatly by so many. I wish the family the best of luck and may God be with you in this difficult time.

We will never let Jasper forget his Grandma.

I met Nancy fourteen years ago through my mother, Evelyn Been Banks, who also lives in Colorado Springs. She attended my mother's and her second husband, John's, wedding. I did not know Nancy well, but enjoyed her company when I saw her. She was a lovely person. I am extremely saddened to learn of her death. I wish you peace and love.

Sincerely,

We loved Nancy very much; she gave of herself so tirelessly at First Pres, where we knew her. She was terrific on staff and we all missed he when she left. Nancy's love of fun made her a real favorite with the children wherever she interacted with them--especially kids choir retreats. Our prayers are with the whole family. We especially pray the Lord's blessing and comfort for Sam and the children.
