Nancy Kleven Obituary

Nancy Kleven, age 75, passed away on Monday, December 26, 2016 at the Sharmar Village Care Center in Pueblo, Colorado as the result of a courageous battle with lung and brain cancer. She was an amazing wife, wonderful mother, devoted grandmother, loving sister, a retired business owner, and friend to many.

Nancy Marie Anderson was born on November 24, 1941 in Montevideo, Minnesota to the late Newton Monroe and Catherine (Andres) Anderson. She grew up in Montevideo, Minnesota and graduated with the Class of 1959. She attended Stephens College and graduated from the University of Missouri. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority.

She married Allan Wilfred Kleven on June 13, 1964 in Montevideo. The Klevens moved to Colorado Springs in 1966 and worked in the homebuilding business. Al and Nancy later started their own homebuilding company, Oakwood Construction Company, where Nancy worked as Office Manager.

As a woman of family and faith, Nancy was a longtime member of Mount Calvary Lutheran Church and later became a member of the First Lutheran Church in Colorado Springs. They were also members of the Colorado Springs Country Club, where Nancy played an excellent game of tennis.

The Klevens moved to Pueblo West in 2009 to retire. They very much enjoyed spending time with their family and many friends.

Nancy is survived by her husband, Allan W. Kleven of Pueblo West, Colorado; her daughter, Andrea (Brett) Clough of Pueblo West; her son, Mark (Angela) Kleven of Pueblo; her sister, Carol Yorke of Colorado Springs; her sister, Kay (Tom) McNamara of Colorado Springs; her brother, Charlie (Marsha) Anderson of Le Roy, Minnesota; and her brother, Joe (Carol) Anderson of Colorado Springs.

She is also survived by her grandchildren, Colton Clough, Ryanne Clough, Jessica Kleven, Lauren Kleven and Kent Kleven; by her brother in-law, Larry (Sherry) Kleven of Canon City, Colorado; and by her sister in-law, Yvonne (Roger) Larson of Montevideo, Minnesota.

Memorial Service will be held at 2:00PM, Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at The First Lutheran Church of Colorado Springs, 1515 North Cascade Avenue, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80907. The Celebration of her life will then continue at the Colorado Springs Country Club, 3333 Templeton Gap Road, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80907.

Memorial gifts in Nancy's memory may be made to the local chapter of Kappa Kappa Gamma, Southern Colorado Alumni Association in care of Margaret Rich, 3105 Springdowns Place, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80906-3726, or to the Frontier Hospice of Pueblo, Colorado, 4718 North Elizabeth Street, Pueblo, Colorado 81008.

Dear Al and family, My deepest condolences. I'll always remember Nancy (from Montevideo days) as having a big smile and being so happily in love with her high school sweetheart. I pray, Al, that you will find solace in the days ahead with your special memories of Nancy and knowing that she is now in total peace.
