Nancy Parkinson Obituary

July 15, 1942 - December 23, 2008
Nancy Lucille Parkinson, age 66, departed this life on December 23, 2008 at Pikes Peak Hospice surrounded by loved ones, after a short bout with cancer. Nancy was born July 15, 1942 at Purcell, Oklahoma, a daughter of the late Samuel and Mary Hankins. She was one of nine children. Nancy graduated from Purcell High School. She attended Oklahoma City School of Cosmetology. Nancy had been employed with AFFES at three different military installations, including Fort Carson, Colorado. At the time of her death, she was a Volunteer at Meadows Park Community Center. Nancy was a member of New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church. Nancy will be greatly missed. Nancy is survived by a daughter, Marchelle L. Hankins of Colorado Springs, CO, a son, Marcus Bowens (Wanda) of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, five grandchildren; Brittney Miller of Colorado Springs, , Kween Shantey of Atlanta Georgia, Marcus II, Chrysanthemum and Ashley Bowens all of Oklahoma City , Oklahoma, a sister, Gayle Scott of Dallas, Texas, four bothers; Sammy (Ruby) Hankins, Stanley Hankins both of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, MSGT (US Army Retired) Billy (Diane) Hankins, of San Antonio, Texas, Rev. Carroll (Josephine) Hankins of Neosho, Missouri, and a very special nephew, Michael Layton of Dallas, Texas, and a host of other nieces, nephews and dear friends. Nancy was also preceded in death by three brothers; Thomas, Samuel II and Joe. We loved you Nancy, but God loved you best. Visitation will be from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Monday, December 29, 2008 at Evergreen Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Tuesday December 30, 2008 at Evergreen Funeral Home Chapel 1830 E. Fountain Blvd. Colorado Springs, Colorado. Donations may be made to Pikes Peak Hospice through the funeral home office.
