Nancy Schumacher Obituary

Nancy Kathryn Degnan Schumacher was born in Grand Forks, ND, the oldest of 3 daughters of Thomas L Degnan and Nan Glennon. She was graduated from the College of St. Catherine, St. Paul, MN and became a member of the Congregation of St. Joseph of Carondolet, to which she belonged for 16 years. Nancy married Jim Schumacher on July 6, 1974, not long after moving to Colorado Springs. After a long and courageous battle with Raynaud's Syndrome and CREST, she died in the Lord at Penrose Hospital Nancy was an educator/ counselor for over 40 years, including 20 years in Harrison School District #2, at Panorama Junior High/ Middle School and Harrison High School. In her retirement years she became involved in multiple volunteer causes, including Odyssey Hospice and SET. She had a life-long history of church ministry, in helping couples called to marriage, as well as bring a proclaimer and Eucharistic minister. Nancy and her husband were presenters for Worldwide Marriage Encounter for over 20 years. She was an avid reader. Nancy's final act of generosity was donating her body to the Medical/Dental School in Denver. Grieving her death are her husband Jim, sons Mark (wife Kimberly) and Preston (wife Mary), four grandchildren (Kayla and Emily, Chyenne and Preston Jr), two sisters, Denise Dyer of Londonberry, NH and Becky Weber of Little Rock, AR and a multitude of friends who have been as close as family. A celebration of Nancy's life will be held at Sacred Heart Church on West Colorado on Tuesday 5 May, beginning at 11 A.M. Instead of flowers, Nancy would have wanted donations in her name to be given to TESSA - or to another charitable cause of the donor's choice.

To Jim and family:
Nancy was a luminary! She lived her whole life outside of herself. Her gifts live on in the many lives she touched, including and especially, ours.
