I send my condolesces to the family of Nancy. I had the opportunity to work with Nancy over the she was the Regional Minority Health Coordinator in the Denver Region, and I in Kansas City. Nancy was alway thoughful in her analysis of difficult Health issues affecting minority population of this nation. We have lost a soldier in the fight of health disparities among minorities. May prayers and God's blessing be with you.

We enjoyed a wonderful childhood in Pittsburgh while attending Madison, Herron Hill and Schenley High School. The Jones sisters were not only beautiful outside but were caring and gracious.

My deepest sympathy to the Jones and Thomann families.

When Nancy arrived in Arizona from Colorado, she took charge of a large health planning effort at the State Department of Health Services. She used her considerable gifts to steer this effort, and in the process gained numerous admirers and colleagues. It's sometimes difficult for newcomers to integrate into the Phoenix area culture, but Nancy was a natural: friendly, smart, calm and engaging. Her leadership was recognized by the AZ Public Health Association, where she became President. We appreciate her efforts to improve Arizona. She will be missed.

My condolences to the family. I have known Nancy for over 30 years. We worked together at the Health Systems Agency in Colorado Springs, and after it closed in the 80's, we corresponded all these years. Nancy was a warm, kind and intelligent woman and I was honored to know her. We lost a mutual friend a few years ago and Nancy said she knew our friend was in a better place. I can only hope now that Nancy is in that better place.

Remembering Nancy….

I can’t remember if I met Nancy in the 3rd or 5th grade….

We had no trouble bonding as we both arrived at Madison Elementary School, in Pittsburgh, PA, on the first day of school, wearing identical navy blue dresses with the wide blue and white sailor collar.

On that fateful day we emerged as best friends and “cousins”.

Nancy captured the heart of every 5th grade boy. On Valentines Day when most of the girls in our class would get one or two cards as I recall, Nancy received a Valentines Day card from 5th grade boy.

She was destined to attain many accomplishments with her innate beauty and charm while earning all A’s in the three R’s.

I cannot recall what circumstances broke our bond…. (I believe she moved out of state for a while)
When she returned to Pittsburgh she moved to another neighborhood I think and we each had our own set of friends.

About 3 years ago, we somehow met up with each other again, via email.
We were both immediately taken back to our 5th grade experiences when we were both in love with Donald Robinson & Walter Worthington.
Through our regular emails we learned a lot about each other…
She spoke with glee of her sons and sent me a family photo.

We were to see each other in 2007 when I visited AZ to celebrate birthdays with my former Michigan friends.
I was persuaded to visit the Grand Canyons in lieu of spending the afternoon with Nancy, a choice I will eternally regret.
Even though I am certain that Nancy is in a better place, I am devastated by her demise.
She had a special understanding of people and was caring and kind with a most beautiful spirit.
